The forest at Nyungwe one of the best preserved medium growth rainforest in all of Africa. A true rainforest, Nyungwe receives more than 2,000 mm of rain a year and is one of Africa’s oldest. It is home to 275 bird species, including the African grey parrot (Psittacus erithacus) and the brown-necked parrot (Poicephalus robustus) depicted in this embroidery.
