This explosion of yellows and golds captures the vibrancy and violence of the active volcano, Mount Nyamnuragira, which is found in the Democratic Republic of Congo and which can be viewed from within Rwanda. Nyamurgira is one of the most active volcanoes in all of Africa. Its name derives from the Rwandan (Kinyarwandan) word meaning “to herd cows.” Perhaps its eruptions have caused the herds to huddle together in fear?
