A young man and young woman from the dance troupe Ingazo Ballet perform a vibrant narrative in dance that explores power dynamics, gender roles, and ethnic strife.  The fine needlework in the fringes of their costumes imparts motion and energy and makes the dancers seem to soar like birds.  Ingazo Ballet troupe members are teenagers from all three of Rwanda’s ethnic groups: Hutu, Tutsi, and Twa. Their aim is to promote peace, reconciliation, and hope in Rwanda through dance and music. Their name, inganzo, is from the Twa word meaning “source of life.”
