This woman displays perfect posture and scrupulous dress as she prepares fufu, a staple food made of manioc or corn flour and hot water.  Sitting on the wooden stool known as an intebe, she has just removed her pot from the three firestones, known as the amashyiga, which stabilize the vessel while cooking.  The embroiderer has stylized the background and enhanced this woman’s elegance with bracelets and necklace—items not typically worn by Rwandan women when cooking.
