Twa potters sell their wares in a lively open-air market. The Twa were originally hunter-gatherers in Rwanda’s high mountain forests. As their forests were cut down by incoming farmers and pastoralists, the Twa were forced to abandon their traditional lifestyle for new trades as potters, dancers, and entertainers and are now among the poorest people in Rwandan society.
