Played by both men and women and accompanied by singing, the inanga harp is one of the oldest music instruments in Rwanda, originating in the time of the Kingdoms (somewhere between the 5th and 11th centuries). This art form is threatened by modernization and the loss of its great masters, but efforts are being made to teach young Rwandan artists inanga musicianship.
