Intore warriors clad in leopard skins perform the “Dance of Heroes,” a celebration of male physical and artistic prowess that typifies Rwandan identity. In the days of the King, the intore were the protectors of the land, and Hutu, Tutsi, and Twa fought side-by-side against common enemies. In the performance of Intore, therefore, warriors of all groups dance together.
